In the Beginning
Scott was born under the sign of Cancer and raised in Queens, NY. He is from a Jewish family, but grew up in the nearly all Italian neighborhood of Howard Beach. Infamous real-life characters such as Mafia boss John Gotti and his henchmen frequented the local streets and stores. They made the quaint neighborhood of Howard Beach their very own, raising their families and ran their businesses there.
So, what was a lonely Jewish boy to do while he steered clear of rebellious teenager gangs of real gangsters?
...Go and watch a lot of movies and TV!
In fact, Scott was bitten by the industry bug as young as eight years old. His parents fostered this love and took him to the movies nearly every week through all his formative years.
When Scott was 13 years old, he saved up a whopping 1000 dollars from newspaper delivery tips and birthdays to purchase his first VHS camcorder. He wrote and directed short films with his friends and then edited them with music and sound effects to make them as professional as possible.
For his college education, Scott continued living in Queens and attended New York University's Film and TV program. In his four years there, he made about 12 different film and video projects.
Scott had a great number of mentors in his college years. Most notably was Sam Pollard, an Emmy-winning editor frequently utilized by director Spike Lee. As a creative consultant, Pollard guided Scott through many of his college films.
Following college, Scott was working two jobs--one as a Studio Sound Mixer for film students at New York University and the other as an assistant editor at a mid-size post-production facility in New York called Valkhn Film and Video. Valkhn specialized in editing documentaries and Scott cut his teeth on numerous National Geographic and Discovery Channel shows there. Finally in 1999, Scott moved to Los Angeles to further his career and added to his already large body of work by doing reality television, music videos and commercials.
In Los Angeles, Scott found two new mentors to further advance his training and knowledge of film. Scott worked very closely with editor Scott Richter, who has hundreds of music videos under his belt and has edited feature films including Oscar winner Chicago and Jet Li's "War."
Chris Davis, is another highly established editor who made a colossal impact on Scott’s creative abilities. Chris has also edited hundreds of music videos and is now currently working on high-profile commercials. Chris frequently edits for veteran film director Dave Meyers.
Scott's New York roots taught him to persevere... his mentors taught him to be persistent... and his client work experience has taught him to be collaborative and compassionate.
As you'd expect from someone born under the sign of Cancer, when Scott gets a project into his creative clutches, there is no letting go, no second best, and nothing less than spectacular to show for his work and that of the trusted professionals he takes for the ride.
